Somehow – even though I had only spent two hours of my life with this family  prior to this session (during their family session last year) … these five feel like family to me.   Maybe it’s because these kids and I took so well to each other, maybe it’s because Mom feels like a lifelong friend to me, maybe it’s because Dad looks like my cousin (ha!) – but whatever it is… photographing them doesn’t feel like work.

The three kids in this crew have very distinct, unique personalities from each other,  which is fun to watch and even more fun to photograph… because one minute  they’re hugging on each other … and the next they’re blaming the other for an elbow to the face  (picture to prove it below) – but there’s no denying these guys are a pretty adorable little unit, who deliver pretty adorable family pictures.

A lot of you know my “tricks” to help get that candid family shot that everyone loves.  While this one went a little awry – it’s kind of perfect at the same time!

“I like to use him as an arm rest sometimes. Can you take a picture of that?”

Two years in a row. Two beautiful pictures.  And I feel lucky to know how gorgeous you are as a person too.

These three had a little race.  One competitor used an elbow to give herself an advantage.  She denied it. Unfortunately, we have photographic proof.

Thank you guys.  SO MUCH. For your authenticity.  For your willingness to let your kids be goofy.  For giving me your trust to photograph your family as I saw it that day.  For choosing to support me.
