If you follow my work at all, you’ve been seeing these faces for three years now (and sometimes more than once in a year!)… so, when it came time to schedule my first shoot of the spring of 2014 – it just felt “right” to kick off with these guys.
I say spring lightly. Spring you think of blooming flowers, green trees, and ……… warm weather. And when we planned this lakeside session we wouldn’t have BELIEVED that icicles were about to grow off our faces from the bitter cold that came off the lake that evening. But we powered through (and by powered through I mean quickly got shots on the beach before sprinting to warmer location before we became human glaciers!) … and at the end of the day, we really captured what I believe to be the true, fun, full-of-love essence of this awesome family.
And these three? I swear they go into autopilot for delivering incredible pictures..
Mom asked for “timeless” images from this session… ones that she could hang on her walls and want to leave there for a really, really long time. I love this image because it’s what all of us try to do as Moms and Dads – find time for the love between the two of us as parents in the midst of the chaos…
Somehow these boys always end up with rocks at their session. Our VERY first session together, the little dude in the blue almost shattered my lens with one of my rocks. You see I’ve learned my lesson… gave them some space this time 😉
I was so excited to bring in this family’s extended crew for this session. These boys’ grandma, grandpa, aunt and uncle were especially excited about not only getting some pictures with their favorite little men – but also getting pictures together as a family. I absolutely loved (and appreciated) their fun approach to these pictures…. because I have a feeling that their interactions on a day to day basis look a lot like this, and produce a lot of these same smiles. And that is exactly what I want these pictures to remind them of in the years to come.
I love that these ladies were up for their solo shots. The girls and I agreed – they’re not in bad shape if Mom’s look is what they have to look forward to in their future years. So stunning!
Mom and I had talked about topping off the session with some ice cream for the boys! (Half bribe for getting through the session. Half photo op! haha) The little man on the right didn’t want his ice cream. He wanted to be sure to depict that in his picture 😉
This guy on the other hand? No problem.
YOU GUYSSSS… thank you, thank you, thank you and thank you one more time. This session was a true representation of “it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish” when it came to the cold! haha. But it turned out to be one of my favorite that we’ve done together over the last three years. Thank you for allowing me the humbling opportunity of helping you continue to build your family archives. You guys are the best and I CAN’T WAIT to figure out what we haven’t done yet for our next shoot! :)Until next time…
